The polyamide used in Cabur terminal blocks has obtained the V-0 classification even for the minimum thicknesses used, guaranteeing the self-extinguishing maximum degree of the product.
V-0 is a class of the UL 94 standard, a regulation issued by the Underwriters Laboratories – US, which evaluates plastic materials based on flame tests. The test called βVertical Burningβ (identified with V) considers the speed of flame propagation, the self-extinguishing time, the dripping and the post-incandescence time on plastic material samples positioned vertically. The range is from V-2 (the worst) to V-0 (the best), like the polyamide used in Cabur terminal blocks. But for which applications is this feature necessary? And how do I recognize if a product uses V-0 material?V-0 and security
V-0 can be considered a guarantee of safety for any type of application. In addition, the polyamide used by Cabur terminal blocks is also free of red phosphors and halogens, often used as flame retardants in plastics and has passed the tests required by EN 45545-2. Red phosphors and halogens are elements that can release harmful fumes and gases during combustion; EN 45545-2, on the other hand, is a very strict European standard that specifies the fire behavior requirements of products used on railway vehicles.V-0 is not a marking
The information is not marked on the finished product. Cabur reports the classification in the technical data sheet of its terminal blocks. In addition, the so-called “Yellow Card” may be requested. It is like an identity card for the plastic material made available by the manufacturer and issued by Underwriters Laboratories. The document, recognized worldwide, provides third-party certification on the quality, safety and performance of the plastic material under consideration. You can save time and money by using the βYellow Cardβ in the process of your projects, thus eliminating the need for additional material testing and shortening the path to certification.
